I have been a headteacher in several different schools for both Primary and Secondary age students. I began my teaching career in Bradford, West Yorkshire and live in Malmesbury with my wife and three children. I am a very keen sports fan and I go and watch Bath RFC when I can. Prior to teaching I worked as a research scientist, in technical sales and as a ground worker but eventually found my vocation in teaching. Outside of the classroom, I love spending time with my wife and daughter and have been a keen rugby player, semi-retired now and spend more time on the golf course. In any spare time I have I am also chairman of a local charity, Off The Record, which provides services to support young people in the BANES authority.

Ms Lumb

Abbeyfield is my third school, having started off in the Independent sector then moving to a Generic Special School and then to mainstream. When I left education I joined the British Army where I served for 8 years in locations throughout the world. I then moved to Nokia and became involved in Project Management and Engineering. After the birth of my two girls I moved into a school career more suited to my family life. I live near Malmesbury with my girls and our dog Amber. Being a Scot I’m a keen supporter of our national rugby team, luckily I’m a good loser!

Mr Norgrove Mrs Carpenter Mr Plummer
Mr Norgrove
Assistant Headteacher

I began at Abbeyfield in January 2011 having taught at 3 previous schools. I began my teaching career in Banbury before moving back home to Wiltshire where I taught at a local secondary for 3 years and then moved into Special Education for 4. Before teaching I spent a few years travelling, working as a plumber’s mate and running a mobile phone shop for a well-known network. I did not feel that my future was bright in this sales environment! So, I decided to follow in my family’s footsteps and become a teacher. Outside of work I enjoy cooking, spending time with my family, and can regularly be found running around the squash courts.

University:
Gloucestershire
Qualifications:
BSc (Hons) Sports & Exercise Science with Business Management, PGCE

Mrs Carpenter
Assistant Headteacher

I joined Abbeyfield from Devizes School where I was Head of English and have also taught at Kingdown School in Warminster and Littlehampton School in West Sussex. I wanted to be a teacher from the age of 5 and find it a very rewarding profession. When I’m not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my young daughter and husband, and walking my dogs. Typically for an English teacher, I can often be found reading. I love visiting France where I have relatives.

University:
Reading, Bristol

Mr Plummer

I have taught Business, Economics and IT at Abbeyfield since arriving in September 2011 following a long period of teaching in Swindon. I have held numerous different roles from Head of House to my current role in charge of post sixteen achievement and data. Prior to training as a teacher I worked for a wine merchant and spent most of my time underground in a wine store. I love football and have played competitively for as long as I can remember. I am also a loyal Swindon Town fan and have followed them around the country for many years. Other than football I enjoy taking my daughter swimming which she loves and spending as much time outside and on water (I am obsessed with boats) as I can.

University:
Portsmouth & Brighton.

Qualifications:
BSc Leisure Resource Management, PGCE.
