Head Of Department: Ms N Ritzaki

Within the Design Technology curriculum, students are able to explore: Fashion and Textiles design; Resistant Materials and Engineering Principles; Electronics, Programmable Components and Systems and Control; Graphic Design and Digital Image Manipulation and Food Technology and Nutrition.

Our team of highly skilled subject specialists encourage students to problem solve, consider new technology and grow into responsible and creative designers. Introducing our students to use a broad range of materials and processes in KS3 provides them with the skills and technical knowledge needed to develop a strong, iterative design approach. This ensures the very best progress and an easy transition into KS4 and 5. We strive to nurture innovative and socially aware designers, who gain all the practical skills for life and develop into ethical and informed consumers.

Pupils are assessed on the following five areas: Research, Design, Make, Evaluation and Technical Knowledge. Outcomes, wherever possible, address real life design problems and inspire invention and resourcefulness. We deliver a broad and exciting curriculum, imparting the knowledge and project management skills necessary to survive in the design industry or go on to further creative education.
