5 Star Well School

Abbeyfield Achieves 5-Star Well School Status

We are incredibly proud to announce that Abbeyfield School has been recognised as a 5 Star Well School by the Youth Sport Trust.

Abbeyfield has been officially accredited as part of the national Well Schools programme for the 2025/26 to 2026/27 academic years. This prestigious recognition celebrates schools across the UK that prioritise the health, happiness and wellbeing of both staff and students as a foundation for success.

The Well Schools programme brings together over 2,000 schools and Trusts committed to improving educational outcomes through a strong culture of wellbeing.

To achieve 5 Star Well School status, Abbeyfield completed the comprehensive Well School: Well Check self review and submitted detailed evidence demonstrating impact across the four key pillars:

Our submission showcased the depth of opportunity available to students, the strength of our leadership, and the embedded culture of physical activity, inclusion and wellbeing across the school.

The evidence was independently peer-reviewed by an expert Beacon Well School to ensure the highest standards were met.

Recent Youth Sport Trust research highlights why this work matters, with 64% of parents and carers stating that student wellbeing is more important than academic achievement when choosing a secondary school.

A Message from Mr Norgrove- “We are extremely proud to be recognised as a 5 Star Well School by the Youth Sport Trust. This accreditation reflects the commitment of our staff, students and wider community. At Abbeyfield, wellbeing is not an add on, it underpins everything we do. Through leading well, moving well and living well, we ensure our students thrive both academically and personally.”
